Speaking on spectacular RMG export growth, Sudhir Sekhri, Chairman of AEPC stated that, “India’s RMG exports have outshined despite the global slowdown and continued inflationary pressure. Even the major exporting countries witnessed a showdown in the RMG export growth and WTO also lowered its growth projection for the world merchandise trade to 3 percent in 2025, from its earlier estimate of 3.3 percent.”
Further Chairman AEPC observed, “India being uniquely placed with low import intensity, the existence of the entire ecosystem from fibre to fashion, both in cotton and MMF, abundant and young labor force, we can do much better.” Considering that the RMG sector has the fastest job creation potential for the unskilled and underprivileged with short training, this sector holds significance for the Indian economy.
This year we will be participating in many big international fairs and will be hosting Bharat Tex again in 2025. As a buildup to Bharat Tex 2025, we held roundtables with global brands/buying consultants. The presence of a large number of buying agents/buying consultants during the roundtables indicated their willingness to forge a stronger relationship with the Indian exporting community. We hope that this relationship will continue to grow as we engage further, Chairman AEPC remarked.
Further, AEPC will be conducting international roadshows in Spain and New York this month, to showcase the best of trade, technology, and tradition. The roadshows will position India as a global hub for textiles, showcasing its vast capabilities in innovation, technology, and sustainable practices.
Mithileshwar Thakur, Secretary General AEPC said, “Indian apparel exports is now on a high growth trajectory. We have started harnessing the untapped potential and have been logging double-digit growth in RMG exports in the last few months in spite of geo-political challenges and consequent supply chain disruptions. India is clearly at the cusp of global attention and the world has started looking at India as a preferred sourcing destination.”
