India’s Technical Textiles Sector Surges past ₹25,000 Crore Exports, Sets Sight on $10 Billion by 2030
India’s technical textiles industry has recorded a remarkable expansion, with exports reaching approximately ₹24,732.68 crore in FY25—showing a growth of nearly 15.5% year-on-year, and a CAGR of about 11% over four years.
Driven by rising demand in sectors like healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, and defence, and supported by initiatives including the NTTM and PLI schemes, the sector is being transformed into a global player. The government has laid out an ambitious export goal: surpassing US$10 billion in annual technical textiles exports by 2030, nearly quadrupling current levels. With investments in R&D, quality control orders, new HS codes, and scaling up MMF fabric manufacturing, India is poised to make this leap.

India’s technical textiles sector represents one of the fastest-growing segments of the textile industry, driven by rising industrialization, infrastructure expansion, healthcare needs, and a growing emphasis on sustainability and innovation. The domestic market, currently expanding at a double-digit CAGR, is projected to reach a value of around US$ 40–45 billion by 2030, up from an estimated US$ 23–25 billion in 2023.
This growth is supported by government initiatives such as the National Technical Textiles Mission, import substitution efforts, and rising exports across geotextiles, medical textiles, agro-textiles, and protective clothing. With India emerging as a global manufacturing hub and strengthening R&D capabilities, the technical textiles market offers significant opportunities for domestic players, foreign investors, and technology providers aiming to tap into its long-term potential.

Despite these challenges Chairman AEPC Sudhir Sekhri has written to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, assuring all support to the government on its stand of protecting the interests of Indian farmers, dairy industry and fishermen.
Sekhri in his letter to the PM said, “I am writing to express the unwavering and unequivocal support, of the Apparel Export Promotion Council and its members, for the Government of India’s stance on not yielding to the unreasonable and unethical pressure of the reciprocal tariffs imposed on India by the United States.

Urgent Appeal for Uniform 5% GST Rate on Polyester Staple Fiber & Polyester Spun Yarn
The Northern India Textile Mills Association (NITMA) respectfully submitted this urgent representation to the Hon’ble Union Finance Minister and esteemed members of the GST Council, ahead of the Council’s deliberations scheduled for September 3–4, 2025.
Sidharth Khanna , President- NITMA opened by highlighting that the long standing issue of Inverted Duty Structure (IDS) affecting the Man-Made Fibre (MMF) textile value chain remains unaddressed. Unlike the cotton value chain—which benefits from a uniform 5% GST across all stages—the MMF segment continues to suffer from disparate tax rates that distort input-output parity and undermine domestic manufacturing viability.
