In his address to the exporting community, the Hon’ble Minister said, “This land of Kolkata is the mother of all textiles but unfortunately has been losing sheen of late. After consulting the industry, we have drawn a roadmap to take the textiles market size from 175 billion USD to 350 billion USD.” Bharat Tex matches the standards and scale of one of the largest global events, where the entire world comes to witness India’s strength in the entire textile value chain.
Bharat Tex is a small step in the journey to the idea of an Atmanirbhar Bharat, which the government is actively promoting, the Minister added.

He advised them to upscale their production and cater not only to the domestic market but to the foreign market too. He said he has asked the jute industry to develop a blend of jute and recycled cotton that can be wearable and sustainable fibre.
