With increasing scrutiny on the origin of raw materials—especially in light of concerns around Chinese cotton—brands are actively seeking assurance of Indian origin.
Kasturi Cotton addresses this demand with a unique traceability solution powered by blockchain technology, enabling a QR code-based journey from farm to retail. When a consumer picks up a shirt, dress, or jacket in a store, they can now trace its complete journey—farm to fashion—ensuring transparency and authenticity.
Driving Sustainability through Standards
Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword; it’s a strategic pillar of global textile production. As emphasized in recent forums, the need for demonstrable sustainable practices is rising. Kasturi Cotton directly responds to this demand.
We have partnered with leading initiatives like BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), CottonConnect to align India’s cotton with global sustainability benchmarks. But Kasturi goes further. While a cotton batch may be BCI-certified, it must meet additional, stringent Kasturi standards—akin to clearing an IIT-level entrance in engineering.
The Kasturi Cotton Standard: Precision and Rigor
Every Kasturi-certified bale must meet key parameters:
Staple length
Reflectance/brightness
Fibre strength
Uniformity Index
Trash content (≤2%) – vs Indian average of 3.2–3.5%
Moisture content (≤8%)
Meeting these benchmarks often requires investment in processing infrastructure, especially for reducing trash content and managing moisture.
These metrics aren’t arbitrary. They are based on industry consultations, notified by the Government, and widely accepted by leading producers.
Testing, Certification & Traceability Ecosystem
The Kasturi system rests on three pillars:
Inspection by NABCB-accredited bodies
Testing in NABL-certified laboratories
Certification issued through a centralised registration and audit-based process
Only a few labs and agencies in India are currently certified, making this a highly credible ecosystem. The KC-Track (Kasturi Cotton Track) ensures end-to-end digital traceability, from ginning to branding. Non-Kasturi cotton is monitored under the GCC Track.
Our traceability platform—developed indigenously by TEXPROCIL—integrates GIS location mapping, enabling visibility of cotton provenance from Jalgaon to Rajkot. This is especially critical in India’s context, where one gin may serve thousands of farmers, unlike the one-gin-one-farm systems of the US or Australia.
Compliance, Digital Integration & Global Readiness
The platform is being aligned with EU’s upcoming Digital Product Passport (DPP) and evolving global legislation on fibre sourcing, including lifecycle assessment protocols and NCA certification requirements. Kasturi Cotton aims to stay ahead of 2026 and 2030 deadlines.
Each transaction along the value chain—gin, spin, weave, dye, manufacture, brand—generates a Transaction Certificate (TC). Only registered and audited supply chain partners may participate.
Forensic and isotopic testing options (like FibreTrace) can also be integrated, though physical tracking and QR-coded traceability remain the cornerstone.
Unique Value Proposition
Only Indian platform offering standardised, certified cotton
Integrated with government-endorsed protocols
QR-based on-product traceability
Developed for global brand compliance and consumer trust
First-mover advantage for Indian mills, brands, and exporters
While there is currently no mandatory QCO for cotton in India, Kasturi provides voluntary gold-standard certification, helping brands future-proof their sourcing.

Brand Adoption & Performance Metrics.
Kasturi Cotton is already gaining traction:
Brands like Killer, Arrow, US Polo, and Indocount have launched products using Kasturi Cotton
Creative Group has launched 200+ bedsheet SKUs under “Boutique Living”
Rigorous third-party testing shows 3x higher tensile strength and 4x greater tear strength
50-wash tests confirm brightness and integrity in Sri Lankan textile mills.
Scalability & Farmer Benefit
Over 1 lakh certified bales expected by end of current season (doubling last year’s volume)
Only 67% of bales tested pass Kasturi standards—underscoring their rigor
Farmers are being trained and incentivized to grow Kasturi-compliant cotton through FPOs and awareness programs
Premium realization at spinning stage offsets additional cost of certification.
Vision: Building India’s Own Global Cotton Brand
Kasturi is not about competing with Egyptian Giza or American Pima. It is about creating India’s own identity, built on scientific rigor, sustainable practices, and traceable value chains.
Even Pima and Giza, when tested under Kasturi standards, may fail to qualify. That is the strength of our framework—built by India, for global markets, using cost-effective, scalable, and transparent processes.
With support from the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) and increasing brand collaborations, Kasturi Cotton is well-positioned to define the future of Indian cotton.
We invite all stakeholders—brands, spinners, manufacturers, and farmers—to join the Kasturi movement. Let’s together build a cotton ecosystem that is sustainable, credible, and proudly Indian.
TRULY GLOBAL. PROUDLY INDIAN: Kasturi Cotton!
