CCI was established on 31st July 1970. and the MSP roadmap started here in 1985. CCI is having a network of about four or five hundred procurement centers in all eleven ports and rural states through its network of 17 branches. During the major MSP operations, CCI handles about a thousand cutouts and engages over 1, 400 impressing factories with a manpower of about 900, of course, during the season.
CCI is setting focus what is the main product mostly through the batch and lâte. delayed routine stuff. this is the chart of MSP operations over the last 20 years. and if you look the MSP operation you see It may be majorly the C-C-M-S-P operation, but have an impact due to external factors which had adversely affected the world economy whereby CCA used to buy about 9 million Bales starting from eight nine.
When we were aware that the subprime crisis of the US Senate in the global meltdown phase, the change in China's policy started from creating the reserve. And all of a sudden, in two thousand fifteen, they made their import zero except for the point seven million quota, which they have fixed through the WTO.
Again, in the Corona time and if you see that the last year, 2023-24, the CCIA, after these four major operations, and the major operation of about 10 percent of the total production at the 2 percent level. in terms of the price behavior, cost of cultivation, the return to the imported farmers, the change in international trade.

Now Brazil has taken over the first position in terms of exports and gained an unrivaled reputation through years on the back of robust sustainability and the traceability funnel, it's something we must talk about today because this is a big piece of cotton growth story globally and, very fast approaching to all of us.
And a country like India, whether the developing countries are ready for that, the answer is no. Because the sustainability even today, no one knows what is the exact definition of sustainability. It is a new science just evolving. Every country has its landscape of product cultivation. As we know the complexity of sustainability is certainly more complicated in developing countries, whereby 97% of the farmers are just small and marginal.

One to 2% are one or two hectares from their average. Also, how that is going to be measured, A big question. Through the inherent properties of cotton, that is the, the soil waste testing or the additive measurements like Isotopes, we know fact that the cotton naturally changes the hands, and due to the mixing of the cotton blending, chemical processing, how it's gonna measure makes the job all the more complicated.
I just come on the role of the CSA. How the CSA is empowering the cotton farmers in the country. One of the major developments that we have implemented is a pioneering initiative "Capacity Building Program on Cotton Production" which is widely used by cotton farmers, is in all nine regional languages, and is Increasing awareness among the farmers, among the MSP rates, the contact points where they can sell their cotton.

They can even track their cotton payment. Also, the grievances are all live addressed immediately upon getting from the farmers. This system we are going to further strengthen, and from this cotton season, We are going to introduce the SMS facility to cotton farmers. As soon as the bill is generated, they will get the SMS, the bill number, and the amount of the bill.
Also, once the payment is released, after forwarding an SMS to the farmers at the payment, it has been credited to the farmers. So that they do not depend on the inquiry through the bank and other people.
From the 1st of October, 2023, we have introduced the ADA-based registration of Cotton Farmer, and also, one step further, we have taken that once it is registered, we have the OTP-based verification of the farmers. This platform has created a very efficient, mechanism funnel, for us, and also a hundred percent of payments are going into the right account.
There used to be some mistake while feeding into the system like the alarm number of a bank account. There could be the mistake of the farmer while giving a copy of that. So this is eliminated. Not even a single wrong pivot has been noticed during the last cotton season when we made about 12, 000 crores to about 8, 000 cotton farmers.
As you are aware we have introduced the QR code-based traceability from the first of October, and all the ways are carrying back this one and the traceability we are providing to our buyers from the factories where CCI has the traceability every bit from the farm level because we. that are related to farmer based on Aadhaar cards.
So we have the 100 percent traceability right from the farms. One of the initiatives of the ministry was the launching of the 'Kasturi cotton', and being the first year of the cotton, the Kasturi cotton, about 47 packets were produced in the country, and cessation was about 92%.
And now, this quarter season onwards, we are going to introduce the paperless facility to all our buyers, whether it's a heavyweight buyer, a small buyer. They can make the payment online, they can take delivery order online, they can take the invoice online, and also they can have the access to their ledger.
So, we did not have any money access to whatever the credit balance was there. Otherwise, some of the credit balance was kept previously with us, so now they can better manage their working capital. Also, it will be extended for the selection of banks, generating the contract online, they can digitally sign, so we will be making the entire system, right, from farmers to our end user, that is the buyer, totally, completely paperless.
