The global apparel trade & retail update report for February 2025. It provides an overview of the latest apparel consumption and trade data for major supplier and buyer nations.
This month's key highlights are as follows:
Total Apparel Imports in 2024:
US imports: US$ 80.3 bn, up 2% YoY
EU imports: US$ 88.2 bn, up 2% YoY
UK imports: US$ 18.4 bn, down 8% YoY
Japan imports: US$ 22.5 bn, down 5% YoY
Apparel Exports in Jan. 2025:
Bangladesh: US$ 3.7bn, up 6% YoY
India: US$ 1.6 bn, up 14% YoY.
Apparel Retail Scenario:
US apparel store sales in Jan. 2025 are estimated to be 11% higher than Jan. 2024, and home furnishing store sales are estimated to be 25% higher than Jan. 2024
US clothing and accessories e-commerce sales in 2024 were 2% lower than in 2023
UK apparel store sales in Jan. 2025 were £ 3.8 bn., which is 27% higher than in January 2024
UK clothing e-commerce sales in 2024 were same as 2023.
In January 2025, US macroeconomic indicators signaled a downturn, as inflation rose for the fourth consecutive month to 3%, while consumer confidence dropped to 104.1 from 104.7 in the previous month.
