Shishir Lahoti, Director Projects at India Exposition Mart Limited, delivered an inspiring and information-rich address in New Delhi today as GTE and IEML announced their strategic partnership.
He began by highlighting the momentum behind India’s garment and textile industry: new MITRA parks, advantageous trade agreements, and surging e-commerce are expanding capacity and driving innovation.
With the country’s online apparel market growing at an estimated 22 percent CAGR, manufacturers and brands have unprecedented opportunities.
Lahoti painted a confident picture of the sector’s future. India is no longer a passive participant in global textiles—it is poised to become a driving force in the worldwide supply chain. GTE’s platform for knowledge exchange and technology showcases will continue to accelerate that trajectory.
Looking ahead, he emphasized that “the future of garment technology is defined by innovation.” He invited the audience to envision AI-powered, robot-assisted production lines; smart textiles and wearables embedded with sensors; and a decisive shift toward sustainable materials and circular design.
Big data analytics are already optimizing inventory and trend forecasting, while immersive tools such as AR, VR, and 3D prototyping are transforming design and sampling. IoT-enabled factories, seamlessly connecting machines and supply chains, are moving from concept to reality, and many of these advances are on display at GTE, from automated sewing systems to 3D fashion-design software and eco-friendly textile solutions.
Lahoti closed by acknowledging the vital role of the media. The stories journalists tell—about breakthrough technologies, insightful panels, and on-floor deals—carry GTE’s impact far beyond the expo halls, informing policymakers, inspiring new talent, and attracting fresh investment.
With a proud legacy behind it, a powerful partnership with IEML, and ambitious plans ahead, GTE relies on press and media allies to amplify the message that India’s garment-tech industry is dynamic, resilient, and ready for the future.
