Apparel exports to Canada to get a boost with FTA with focus on investment, talent & technology sharing: Chairman AEPC.
Expressing optimism about the growing ties between India and Canada, Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman AEPC welcomed the strengthening of bilateral ties, especially the resumption of discussions for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Chairman AEPC hails the visit of Canadian Prime Minister Mr. Mark Carney and his address to the CEO’s Forum, alongside Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthening bilateral economic engagement and a mutually beneficial Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
Highlighting the importance of the strong engagement, Dr Sakthivel underlined, “Apparel exports to Canada is 250 million USD. After the signing of CEPA the exports to Canada will double in next three years; besides creating huge opportunities for investment and job creation. The comprehensive trade framework will be an economic anchor for expanding bilateral trade and reinvigorating investment based on economic complementarities.”

Further, Dr Sakthivel said, “The stronger ties will also lead to transfer of technologies and R&D partnerships besides AI and automation which will help industry scale its production and improve upon the global compliances.”
The two leaders underscored the central role of skilling and talent mobility in advancing people-to-people ties between India and Canada which will optimize the shared potential of both countries, Chairman AEPC noted.
