Advocacy for trans-seasonal clothing approach to scale up volumes and in turn improve/shore up India’s apparel exports market share.
Scale holds the key for success; India must move towards higher scale, higher value and 12-month garment manufacturing to achieve a $350 billion textile economy and $100 billion exports by 2030-31, textiles minister Giriraj Singh alluded to Wednesday while addressing on Bharat Tex 2026 inauguration ceremony.
He also urged and exhorted industry to capture at least $200 billion from the $465 billion market access provided by free trade agreements impressing upon the opportunity thus created by the evolving FTAs landscape. “He made a very strong case stating, Currently much of India’s production is oriented towards summer garments, catering to roughly eight months of global demand given that scale does matter in this competition paradigm".
Going forward, the industry must build capacity and capability.
